The Wedding Date

Once again I got sucked into watching a "chick movie".  Unlike the last one though, this one was tolerable.  Not to bad of a movie.

This movie is centered around a woman, Kat, who hires a male escort for he sisters wedding in London where her ex is the best man.  She brings her date basically to make her ex jealous and to find out if he still loves her.  In the beginning of the movie she is nervous about meeting the man that she is taking half way around the world with her.  Oh, did I mention that the date cost her $6,000. She starts to get a little more comfortable with his guy and eventually at starts to fall in love with him.  Towards the middle of the movie things start to get complicated.  Kat finds out that the reason that her ex left her was because he slept with her sister.  One thing leads to another and everyone is mad at everyone else.  Once again, everything works out in the end.

Now this movie I did think was a little predictable.  Not in the sense that I knew what exactly was going to happen but you could tell when something good was going to happen or when something bad was going to happen.  Over all I would say that for a "chick movie" it was ok.

Princess

Well, my fiance talked me into watching Princess, a horrible "Made for TV" movie, on ABC Family.  This movie may have been one of the worst movies I've ever seen.  The only reason I watched it was because I thought it was going to be completely different.

The movie started out like any other, giving a little back story about the "leading man".  He was a failed author, a failed music writer or something like that and had pretty much failed at everything else he had tried.  He was staying with a friend of his and his friends pregnant wife.  He had only $50,000 to his name.  Eventually he ends up going to this castle for a "Princess Ball", that is being put on by the Princess that lives in the castle (whom everyone thinks is crazy because she only comes out of the castle once a year for this ball thing).  Go figure that he ends up spending his last $50,000 on an auction to win a dance and dinner with the princess.  After he wins the date with the princess, he says something that makes her think that he is someone else, a "searcher", as she puts it.  He is supposed to be looking for someone that the princess has been dreaming about.  Blah, blah, blah... something about mythical creatures living in the castle with the princess and she is some kind of healer and whatnot, the two of them get in a fight because she finds out that he lied to her.   To make a long story a little shorter in the end everything works out with him and the princess.

Anyway, bad movie.  I wish I could say that it was predictable but the movie kept taking so many turns you never knew what was going on.  Sad part is, is that I kept watching to see how much worse it could get.

If you didn't see this movie, consider yourself lucky!!

No Country for Old Men

Well I have come to the conclusion that I'm not and "artsy" or award winning movie guy. Because yet again I took the time out of my life to watch a movie that I really didn't get.

I watched No Country for Old Men a few days ago and didn't get the plot, I watched and when it ended I found myself saying what just happened. I personally felt that the story of the movie bounced around to much and was very hard to follow.

On the other hand I did see why Javier Bardem won an Academy Award for his
performance as the killer. His level of acting and conveyed emotion is the only thing that kept me watching the movie

Overall I'm not really sure what to say about the film, it was would be rated a 5 out of 10 for me.

1408

I watched 1408 a few days ago, it was a decent movie overall. (Look as though it was based off a Stephen King short story)

The movie was staring John Cusack, who was a writer that wrote books on hunted hotels, inns and bed and breakfasts.

From what the movie let on he didn't really like his job, and most of the times he was never afraid of the place he stayed.

The fact that it showed so blatantly that he never got spooked out by the places he was staying at you knew what the movie was going to be about.

He got a postcard from an anonymous person saying don't stay in 1408....

The postcard was of a hotel in NYC.

When he started to look into the hotel and the room he saw there had been a lot deaths in that room, he tried to book a that room via calling the hotel and was just hung up on.

So he took a trip to NYC.

When he got to NYC the hotel manager told him that the room is unavailable, after a long conversation, he got the room....

In the end the room was basically pure hell, I'm not going to detail every part of the stay, because it would clearly ruin a movie that is actually worth seeing.

I will say that there are parts that were a little predictable, where you will thing come on, don't go out the window!

It was entertaining enough to where I didn't feel like it was a waste of time, but not the best movie I've ever seen!

I would say that the suspense of the movie was it strongest aspect, it really was an edge of your seat type movie...you had a idea of what was to come but just didn't know when it was going to happen.

The weakest part in the stereotypical stupid moves that people in horror movies make that cost them injury or death....the "oh come on" scenes.

Beowulf

I wish I hadn't of bothered renting Beowulf... in the voice of comic book guy from the Simpson's "One of the worst movies EVER".

I remember reading the Epic tale of Beowulf when I was in high school, and thinking that it was interesting, had to understand...but interesting

The movie was nothing like the epic tale it was a poor interpretation of a timeless story.

When the movie first started and I saw it was CGI, I was thinking "oh cool intro" about 3 minutes later I was thinking...when is the CGI going to stop.

The only positive is that the CGI did look fairly real, but not real enough for an entire movie.

CGI should only be used to supplement live action.

I don't know what more to say about a poorly done movies, there wasn't an true camera work seeing as how it's CGI.

If you read reviews on rotten tomatoes everybody that liked the movies talks about how great the CGI was but not much about the content of the movie.

I watched the TV version of American History X a few day ago and although I have seen the movie sereral time in the past, my favorite movie!

I find the flashbacks and the use of black and white in certain scence to be helpful in laying out the flow of the story.

It's story that envokes passion and emotion in the views!

I'm not sure what else to say...I'm going to work on writing these blogs just after I watch moives and not a few days later next time!

My first Post!

Hello all....

I had to get a blog for my intro to video class at SUNY Brockport. Hard to believe that I have been a computer tech for Staples for 5 years and I didn't have a blog...and now I'm getting one as I move on to a new job as a Corporate Trainer!
